Joao Pedro stunned Manchester United with a stoppage-time winner for Brighton in a dramatic Premier League clash.
Former United forward Danny Welbeck had earlier given the Seagulls the lead at the Amex Stadium, finishing off a well-worked move with Kaoru Mitoma, slipping away from Harry Maguire to score from close range.
Manchester United fought back, with Amad Diallo scoring a deflected equalizer. United thought they had taken the lead when Alejandro Garnacho found the back of the net, but VAR ruled the goal out as Joshua Zirkzee, who was offside, had touched the ball near the goal line.
In the dying moments of the match, Joao Pedro secured all three points for Brighton with a 95th-minute winner, keeping Fabian Hurzeler’s side at the top of the Premier League.
“I’m very happy for the win. I think this goal at the end shows how much we want to win the game, it’s the first game at home against a big team,” Pedro said.
“I cannot feel better than today. The team did well but now we need to rest as we have another big game next weekend”.
