Manchester United’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, recently revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo gave him the nickname “the poet” during their time together on the Portuguese national team.
Amorim shared this in his first interview since taking over at Old Trafford, explaining that Ronaldo called him this because he speaks from the heart.
Amorim, who has built a reputation as one of the finest young coaches in European football, is now tasked with turning around Manchester United’s fortunes after their worst-ever start in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo has publicly wished Manchester United and their new manager, Ruben Amorim, the best of luck following Amorim’s recent appointment.
Speaking after Portugal’s 5-1 victory over Poland in the UEFA Nations League, Ronaldo expressed his support for his former club and new coach. Ronaldo, who left Manchester United in November 2022, said, “I wish him [Amorim] all the luck in the world, that’s what Manchester needs.”
Amorim, who began work at United’s Carrington Training Centre on Monday, is set to lead his first match against Ipswich Town on November 24.
