Former Chelsea and Cameroon football star, Geremi Njitap, has filed for divorce from wife, Toukam Fotso Laure Verline after finding out that the twins he raised during his 12 years of marriage weren’t his.
According to reports in the UK Sun, court documents in Geremi’s native Cameroon show Toukam “destroyed the harmony” of their marriage “through her abject behaviour”.
The report didn’t fail to mention her “repeated lies”, and added: “No children have been born from this union.”
“But the discovery that the children were from her previous partner destroyed the couple’s harmony,” the documents further revealed.
Toukam had deceived Geremi into thinking the twins born in June 2008 — four years before the couple’s marriage — were his, so as to get married.
During his playing career, Njitap featured for Real Madrid where he won the Champions League.
He also helped Cameroon to two AFCON titles, and he was part of the Cameroonian team that won gold in the football event of the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
The former Chelsea star said he is devastated by the revelations, and that his wife has affected him psychologically.
