The Football Association (FA) has opened an investigation into the behavior of Tottenham Hotspur fans during their 4-3 defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.
During the match, Spurs supporters were seen throwing objects onto the pitch.
Tottenham initially took a 2-0 lead within the first 11 minutes with goals from Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski. However, Chelsea made a comeback with goals from Jadon Sancho, two penalties from Cole Palmer, and a strike from Enzo Fernandez, before Son Heung-min scored a late consolation goal.
Before the match, Spurs fans in the South Stand were given pieces of paper to create a giant tifo reading “audere est facere” – Latin for “to dare is to do,” which is the club’s motto.
However, some fans used those pieces of paper to throw at Chelsea players when they came to take corners.
The FA is reviewing footage and referee Anthony Taylor’s match report before potentially taking further action.
