The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially postponed the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Libya and Nigeria.
The match, originally scheduled for this evening in Libya, will not go ahead as planned.
CAF’s brief statement did not specify the reason for the postponement but indicated that the issue will be referred to the appropriate bodies for further review and a final decision.
This isn’t unconnected to news that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has withdrawn the Super Eagles from their 2025 AFCON qualifier against Libya due to a 12-hour ordeal at Al Abraq Airport in Libya.
The team’s flight was unexpectedly diverted mid-flight to the smaller airport, leaving players and officials stranded without support from the Libyan Football Federation.
