On Tuesday, 27th of February, Prince Charles was meant to give a reading at the one year memorial service of his late godfather, King Constantine of Greece. However, a few hours before the ceremony, he called the Greek family to inform them that he will not be able to attend the ceremony.
According to the reports obtained from Kensington Palace, the Prince of Wales was not in attendance during the ceremony due to “Personal Matters” and they did not say anything further concerning what the “Personal Matter” is.
King Constatine of Greece is a second cousin to King Charles III, King Constantine was ousted from the royal throne as a result of a military coup which occurred in 1967 during which the late King Constatine and his family all fled to Rome.
The Greek Monarchy became abolished on the 1st of June 1974 and the country was proclaimed a republic by the military regime. King Constatine died last year in January at the age of 82.
Due to Prince William’s Absence, Crown Prince Pavlos, King Constantine’s eldest son gave the reading that was supposed to be given by Prince William. Also absent at the ceremony was King Charles who is currently getting treated for prostate cancer.
As the eldest available member of the Royal family, Queen Camilla led the other members of the Royal Family to the memorial service which took place at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
Other members of the royal family present at the event include Princess Anne and Prince Andrew. Also in attendance was King Constantine’s widow Queen Anne-Marie along with her children Crown Prince Pavlos, Princess Alexia, Prince Nikolaos, Princess Theodora and Prince Philippos and her grandchildren as well.
Some other notable guests at the memorial service include ex-Formula One racing driver Sir Jackie Stewart and King Felipe VI as well as Queen Letizia of Spain.
Prince William’s absence at the memorial service due to “Personal Matters” has gained public interest with several people coming up with various conspiracies about the state of his wife’s health.
It is to be recalled that Katherine underwent an abdominal surgery earlier this year in January and is expected to resume royal duties after Easter while she recovers in the meantime.
However her complete silence has got a lot of people making several speculations and conspiracies as she is known to be a very active woman who made a public appearance just 7 hours after giving birth. Nevertheless, the Kensington Palace has said that the Princess of Wales is doing fine and she “continues to be doing well.”
