A Nigerian woman has been arrested in Bengaluru in one of India’s largest drug seizures.
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) recovered MDMA crystals worth approximately Rs 24 crore from her possession.
The woman, identified as Roseline, was running a confectionery shop in TC Palya, KR Puram, serving Africans and other foreign nationals, where she allegedly sold the drugs.
Roseline had been in India on a business visa for about five years, but had overstayed after her visa expired. She was apprehended following a raid on her shop, during which authorities also recovered 70 SIM cards and a mobile phone.
Investigations revealed that she was procuring the drugs from another African woman based in Mumbai, who is now being sought by the police.
The CCB’s vigilant monitoring of drug activities, especially during the New Year celebrations, led to this significant bust. The police continue their efforts to track down other individuals involved in this drug trafficking network.
