A UK court convicted four Nigerian students and sentenced them to prison for their role in a violent street fight in Leicester.
The incident, which took place on November 4, 2021, involved the use of knives, a baseball bat, and a crutch. The court found the students—Destiny Ojo, Joshua Davies-Ero, Ridwanulahi Raheem, and Habib Lawal—guilty of various charges, including violent disorder and attempted grievous bodily harm.
Ojo received the harshest sentence of seven years, while the court sentenced Lawal to five years. Raheem received a three-year sentence, and Davies-Ero was given two years. A fifth defendant, Justin Asamoah, pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article and is awaiting sentencing.
The Leicester City Police praised the public’s assistance in the investigation, which included CCTV analysis, phone tracking, and public appeals. Detective Constable Sean Downey emphasized the severity of the incident and the importance of maintaining public safety.
