Fani Williams, the district attorney of Fulton County, Georgia, had a riled up moment in court when she got overly defiant and defensive in court on Thursday while defying the several allegations made against her.
On the 10th of February 2021 Fani Willis launched a criminal investigation against Donald Trump accusing him of electoral misconduct by trying to influence Georgia election officials to “Find” votes in order to change the result of the election. Which lead to a court case with Donald Trump and 14 of his allies
However, in a turn of events, One of Donald Trump’s attorneys, Mike Roman, accused Fani Williams, the top prosecutor of the case, of being in a personal relationship with Nathan Wade, one of the prosecutors she hired to be on the case. He accused Willis of overpaying Wade and also both of them going on various all expense paid trips. He also stated that they both benefitted financially from the arrangement. s
In response to this, Fani Willis and Nathan Wade acknowledged that they were both in a relationship, however, this does mean that the relationship is causing any conflict of interest or financial impropriety in the case.
On Thursday both Fani Willis and Natahan Wade were asked on how Miss Fani Willis paid him back for his services and if she ever reimbursed him for any of the vacations they went for together, he replied by saying that Miss Willis is a strong independent woman who footed her own bills and that she also paid him in cash for his services therefore there was no records of the payments.
Also making a statement about the questions asked, Ms Willis made it known that their relationship is over because of difference of interest, she is an independent woman and Mr Wade had a sexist view. She said, “Mr. Wade is used to women that, uh, as he told me one time: The only thing a woman can do for him is make him a sandwich,” she said. “We would have brutal arguments about the fact that I am your equal. I don’t need anything from a man, a man is not a plan, a man is a companion.”
In the cause of the testimony she made, she tried to digress from the testimony to the main case at hand which is Donald Trump’s election misconduct allegations, and when she was being interrupted she got defensive and aggressive. She became riled up in the courtroom, raising her voice and cutting of attorney’s even to the extent of exchanging words with the the Judge, Judge Scott Mcafee
After a lot of back and forth and dramatic testimony, Judge Mcafee made it known that he would not be making a ruling. He said “ “I’m not ruling on any of this tomorrow, this is something that’s going to be taken under advisement on all aspects. My goal, my hope is perhaps we can just close the evidence tomorrow, and we can take it from there.”
It was also made known that Judge McAfee could disqualify Ms Wilis if the case raised was found to be true. Ms Fani Willis being removed from the case could lead to a delay in the case proceedings against Donald Trump.
