The downtrend of marriages in china which was reported to be halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic is said to be reversed with a jump in numbers of new marriages with a data 12.4% in 2023.
With the billion people population of Giant China, number of newlyweds are by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, said to have rose to 7.68million last year.
This is lower than the peak of 13.47million couples in 2013 and higher than 2022 by 845,000 more.
With consistent reports in population decline, policy makers are said to be vibrant on its reversal to have a substantial birthrate after which roughly over 300million Chinese are expected to reach retirement age in the next decade.
The marriage data is also said to come in after Li Qiang, Chinese Premier made a pledge about “a birth-friendly society and promote long term, balanced population development” from the government which also comes with a reduction in childbirth, parenting and education.
