Counsel to Yahaya Bello, former governor of Kogi, Abdulwahab Muhammed, says the erstwhile Kogi supremo was in his state when officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) besieged his Abuja residence on Wednesday.
This was revealed at the federal high court in Abuja, at the hearing of alleged money laundering case against Alli Bello, chief of staff to Usman Ododo, incumbent governor of Kogi; Yahaya Bello, and a certain Daudu Suleiman.
However, the ex-governor of Kogi was not sighted in the courtroom.
Muhammed further disclosed that Bello was in his state awaiting the judgment of a high court, which stopped the anti-graft body from arresting him, when the news of his Abuja residence invasion, a move described by the lawyer as “illegal and unconstitutional” got to him.
