Former Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has finally responded to the invitation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), his media office announced on Wednesday.
This decision followed consultations with his family, legal team, and political allies.
Bello had been declared wanted by the EFCC in April after reportedly ignoring multiple invitations and resisting arrest.
EFCC officials had attempted to arrest him at his residence but were unsuccessful after hours of effort.
Reinforcements from the Police and Department of State Services (DSS) were called in for backup, with plans to forcefully detain him.
The situation took a turn when Governor Usman Ododo arrived at Bello’s residence.
Although Ododo eventually left, reports emerged that Bello was hiding in Ododo’s vehicle.
In response, security operatives, who had been on standby for hours, opened fire as the vehicle departed.
