Vice President Kashim Shettima departed Abuja on Sunday for the United States to represent Nigeria at the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
President Tinubu directed Shettima to lead the Nigerian delegation while he remains focused on urgent domestic matters, including the recent flood crisis.
According to a statement by the Vice President’s media aide, Kingsley Nkwocha, Shettima will deliver Nigeria’s national statement, participate in key sideline meetings, and engage in bilateral discussions.
The General Debate, themed “Leaving no one behind: Acting Together for the Advancement of Peace, Sustainable Development and Human Dignity for Present and Future Generations,” is scheduled for September 24 to 28, 2024.
