Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki said he visited the State Collation Centre to gather first-hand information about the collation process during the ongoing governorship election.
He arrived at the INEC office in Benin City in the early hours after unsuccessful attempts to reach the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Anugbum Onuoha.
Obaseki explained that he went to the centre after receiving reports that PPP agents were being denied access to the collation process and that no updates were being provided by the REC.
After speaking with Deputy Inspector General of Police Frank Mba, INEC eventually issued a statement around 5:00 a.m. announcing that collation would resume at 10:00 a.m.
