Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has arrived at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja, accompanied by his successor, Governor Usman Ododo.
The visit follows an announcement by Bello’s Director of Media, Ohiare Michael, confirming the former governor’s decision to honor the EFCC’s invitation after consultations with his family, legal team, and political associates.
The statement, titled “Former Governor Yahaya Bello Honours EFCC’s Invitation,” noted that Bello was joined by several high-profile Nigerians during his visit to the anti-graft agency.
Bello had been declared wanted by the EFCC in April after reportedly ignoring multiple invitations and resisting arrest.
EFCC officials had attempted to arrest him at his residence but were unsuccessful after hours of effort.
Reinforcements from the Police and Department of State Services (DSS) were called in for backup, with plans to forcefully detain him.
The situation took a turn when Governor Usman Ododo arrived at Bello’s residence.
Although Ododo eventually left, reports emerged that Bello was hiding in Ododo’s vehicle.
