Former Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has condemned the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), along with other detainees.
Speaking at a protest in Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday, Sowore demanded their immediate release, including those arrested during the #EndBadGovernance campaign.
He stated, “We are protesting to ensure the release of everyone detained illegally, including those falsely charged with treason, like Nnamdi Kanu, who is being persecuted for expressing his people’s desire to secede from Nigeria.”
Sowore also criticized Nigeria’s independence, calling it a “clog in the wheel of progress,” and emphasized the need for a revolution to free the country from what he described as “internal colonialism.”
