One-time Governor of Oyo State & the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, and other High Chiefs who have been promoted to the status of Obas have been issued a six-day ultimatum to resolve the brewing crisis among them so as to make way for Ọba Olakulehin to ascend the throne.
This was disclosed at the end of a meeting held with High Chief Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja and the High Chiefs turned Obas at the Iwo Road residence of a former President of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII & Asiwaju of Ibadanland Chief Bode Amao.
The meeting was attended by Ladoja, who is the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, and other High Chiefs among whom are the Ekerin Olubadan, Hamidu Ajibade who has played a very huge role in the crisis due to an interview he granted some days ago during which he said Ladoja has no right to call them to a meeting as they are Kings and not a Chief like him.
Going by the Chieftaincy law of Ibadan, the statement was wrong and Chief Bode Amao and other stakeholders took necessary steps to avert further crisis.
Speaking, one of the attendees said, “You know that a meeting was held on Wednesday. This is the outcome of the meeting. Ladoja spoke and the High Chiefs also spoke. Amidu Ajibade spoke on behalf of the other High Chiefs who collected the crowns.
“Ladoja said that he had been in the court before Oba Balogun passed away. He said that he went to court because the crowns given to the High Chiefs is an aberration. He said that he did not have any issue with anyone.
“The other ones who collected the crowns said that it was Ladoja that made them surrender the crowns before they went to collect it again and they were not ready to surrender it again. They said that they were not ready to surrender the crowns again because of Ladoja. They told Ladoja to withdraw the case in court.
“But, Ladoja told them that there should be term of reference before he can do that. That is how it ended. They appealed to them. In fact Yemi Soladoye prostrated more than six times for them so as to resolve the matter. The two parties spoke.
“But, it was agreed that they have six days to resolve the matter. A six days ultimatum was issued to them. It started on Wednesday and will end on Monday. Then, another expanded meeting would be held on Monday”.
Earlier, it was reported that the Olúbàdàn-designate has finally made an appearance following the death of the previous occupant of the stool.
