Troops of the Nigerian Army successfully eliminated notorious terrorist kingpin Halilu Buzu and several of his fighters in an operation on Thursday in Zamfara State.
Buzu, a key associate of the infamous Bello Turji, resisted fiercely alongside his men but was ultimately overpowered by the troops during an operation in Mayanchi village, Maru Local Government Area.
The Nigerian Army, in a post on X, confirmed the offensive, describing it as “deliberate and discreetly coordinated.”
During the operation, troops recovered a significant amount of weaponry, including two rocket-propelled grenade guns, three PKT guns, five AK-47 rifles, and 30 motorcycles, among other items.
The military also destroyed the terrorists’ camp and is continuing to exploit the area for further operations.
This offensive comes shortly after the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, vowed to capture Buzu’s associate, Bello Turji.
