In order to combat insecurity in the area, South-West governors have been urged by Mr. Morayo Lebi, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, to provide contemporary equipment to the South-West Security Network Agencies, also referred to as Amotekun.
Two monarchs were slain in Ekiti State, and a group of suspected gunmen seized no fewer than twenty-five schoolchildren and four staff members in the Emure community of Ekiti State, adding to the worrying wave of violence plaguing the southwest.
Lebi noted that even if the victims have been freed, security organizations like Amotekun and others need to be outfitted with cutting-edge weapons to put an end to the threat.
He said, “Criminals cannot be carrying AK-47s when our security personnel are still going about with old and empty rifles.”
He said that youth unemployment was the root cause of insecurity and that it could be avoided by giving young people jobs and the skills they need. He urged the governors in the area to make sure that people’s lives and property are secure.
