The UNESCO Internship Programme for 2024 is now open for applications, offering students and recent graduates a valuable learning opportunity to gain insight into UNESCO’s mandate, programs, and processes while enhancing their academic and technical knowledge through practical assignments.
Requirements
Age: Applicants must be at least 20 years old.
Academic Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a graduate programme (Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent) OR
- Recently graduated with a Master’s degree or PhD (or second degree as defined) within the past 12 months.
- Note: Candidates with completed bachelor’s degrees but not enrolled in a graduate programme are ineligible.
- Applicants for secretarial/assistant or technical/professional assignments must be enrolled in or recent graduates of specialized institutions.
- Languages: Proficiency in English or French (written and spoken), with knowledge of the other language as an asset for certain assignments.
- Computer Skills: Excellent knowledge of computer systems and office-related software.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to an international environment.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
Program Details
- Duration: Internships range from one to six months.
- Visa: Interns are responsible for obtaining necessary visas.
- Travel: Interns must arrange and finance their own travel.
- Medical Insurance: Proof of comprehensive health insurance valid for the internship duration is required.
- Medical Certificate: A medical certificate indicating fitness to work is necessary before the internship begins.
- Supporting Documents: ID/Certificate of Enrollment/Diploma must be provided before the internship starts.
- Leave: Interns are entitled to 2.5 days of leave per month.
Application Process
Prepare a motivation letter and résumé before filling out the application form, ensuring contact details remain valid for the next six months. Applications can only be in English or French, with unofficial translations provided if necessary.
Remuneration: UNESCO does not provide financial compensation for internships.
Placement Guarantee: Placement is not guaranteed due to the high number of applications received.
Application Review: Applications will be assessed by UNESCO managers worldwide and remain in the internship portal for six months.
