The Commonwealth PhD Scholarships 2025 are designed to support candidates from high-income Commonwealth countries in pursuing doctoral studies in the UK.
This fully funded program encourages international collaboration and development through research, with a focus on six key areas: science and technology, health systems, global prosperity, international peace and security, resilience to crises, and access to opportunities.

Benefits:
- Airfare: Approved travel costs from home country to the UK and return after the award.
- Tuition Fees: Fully covered.
- Monthly Stipend: £1,378 or £1,690 per month.
- Warm Clothing Allowance: If required.

- Family Allowances:
- Spouse (no children): £297 per month for up to nine months.
- Spouse and Children: £297 per month for the spouse, £297 for the first child, and £146 for each additional child under 16.
- Single Parent: £590 per month for the first child and £146 for each additional child under 16.
- Additional Support: For disabled candidates after assessment.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a citizen or refugee of an eligible Commonwealth country.
- Permanent resident of an eligible Commonwealth country.
- Available for study in the UK by September 2025.
- Must hold a first degree of at least upper second-class honors or a second-class degree with a Master’s degree by September 2024.
- Must not be registered for an MPhil or PhD at any UK University before September/October 2025.
- Provide evidence of financial need to study in the UK.
- Must provide all required documents in the necessary format.
Mode of Application:
- Apply through the CSC online application system.
- Apply via a nominator (national nominating agency, selected universities, or NGOs).
- Each nominator has its own eligibility criteria and deadlines.
- Nominators forward candidates to the CSC for consideration.
- The CSC selects candidates from the nominated pool.
- Results will be announced by July 2025 via email.
