Anto Lecky, a former housemate on Big Brother Naija, has expressed her opinion on Nigerian physicians going abroad.
On the DW series THE 77 Percent, the reality TV personality shared her opinions about Nigerian doctors looking for possibilities elsewhere.
“Doctors are supposed to have an ingrained reason to want to help people. So the fact that people are running away because of money is a problem to me. You took an oath to save lives,” she muttered.
She warned Nigerians that living overseas is not as glamorous as many imagine, even though she preferred that they stay and help advance healthcare in Nigeria. She emphasized that living abroad does not guarantee a flawless existence.
“Do what you want to do; I have nothing against people leaving. However, it’s not uncommon for me to hear statements like “That side is amazing.” Go ahead and have a great time if you’d rather deal with racism than tribalism here. However, I don’t want people to assume that just because you go, everything will be fantastic. You would still have difficulties even if you were skilled,” she stated.
“My charge is, if you’re going to go please take those resources and bring them back to Nigeria because we need it,” she said.
Anto Lecky, who had lived in the US, fervently urged her peers to keep a practical outlook when visiting foreign countries.
Because we have access to social media, I believe that we frequently assume that everyone’s life is ideal when in reality, that isn’t the case. Even when residing overseas, you must meet specific income requirements to qualify for a particular type of mortgage and home. There are regulations everywhere,” she remarked.
Lecky also urged young people to get involved in politics and to make use of Nigeria’s well-established infrastructure.
“I think it’s important that we do research,” she said in closing. I want people to understand that although we do possess some of these infrastructures, our words are often colored by rage. We only need to take a glance at the current administration to see how many intelligent, young, and technocrats deserve to be in positions of authority. We must run for elected office.”
