Big Brother Naija ‘No Loose Guard’ contestant, Chinwe, sparked controversy when she claimed that Grammy-winning afrobeats artist Wizkid is “no longer relevant.”
During a conversation with fellow housemates on Saturday, she argued that rising star Rema has surpassed Wizkid in the music industry.
Chinwe went on to praise Burna Boy for maintaining his superstar status, contrasting Wizkid’s recent performances with Burna Boy’s consistency.
She stated, “Wizkid is no longer relevant. When was the last time he sold out a show? Even Rema is doing better than him. Currently, Wizkid isn’t doing great. He has to prove himself and earn his status as a superstar. If it’s Burna Boy, I won’t be having this conversation. Burna Boy is doing well. He’s proving himself.”
Her remarks stirred debate about the standing of top Nigerian artists in the global afrobeats scene.
