Talented music star Omah Lay has opened up about his struggles in the industry, revealing feelings of being unloved, particularly by the media and industry insiders.
In a candid interview with Amazon Music, he shared how he copes by escaping into a fantasy world, saying, “I have my fans, family, and team, but I don’t feel loved, especially by the media and the gatekeepers. I live in my head 90 percent of the time.”
Omah Lay also discussed the challenges of traveling with a Nigerian passport, noting that he often faces mistreatment by immigration officers until they recognize who he is.
“Travelling especially being a Nigerian and having the Nigerian passport, I have just seen the cruelty of the world so much,” he said.
“The immigration officers often maltreat me once they see the Nigerian passport until they realise that I’m Omah Lay that’s when the treatment changes.”
