Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, a television personality and reality star, recounts how difficult 2012 was and how it nearly caused him to fade into irrelevance in the entertainment industry.
He described how, after leaving Nigeria for the United States, he was attempting to organize and balance his life.
This was revealed by the versatile media personality during a recent appearance on Channels’ “Morning Brief” program.
“I had this brilliant notion to acquire a degree in intellectual property law to return to establish this entertainment law practice and become the best entertainment lawyer in the industry at that particular time. However, when I returned, I was jobless and had spent all of my money on schooling.
“2012 was hard because it was a time when people have sort of, let me use the word, mostly forgotten me cause I was off the screen for two years, and Nigerians, don’t waste time. They say that who dey hot, they move on to the next best host and so because I’ve been off-screen for a while, I didn’t have the money to set up entertainment law anymore.
“Today’s population hardly believes in entertainment at all. So why exactly do I need a lawyer if I can read contracts and sign them myself? We were just so lucky to witness all of the artist drama that was going on at the time with their management.
“So, ultimately, nothing I planned worked out, and I was unemployed for about a year and a half.”
