The Management of the University of Ilorin has expelled a 100-level student for allegedly demanding a ransom from parents of a missing colleague.
This was revealed in the weekly bulletin of the university, signed by its Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, on Monday.
The student was identified as Olanrewaju Abdulkabir Abdulkadri with matriculation number 22/52HL004 from Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences.
In a different scenario, the university also rusticated a 400-level student, Segun Micheal Oyewole, for allegedly beating a fellow female student.
Oyewole, who was rusticated for one academic session, was from the department of Counsellor Education, Faculty of Education of the university.
News VEO reported in April that the same institution approved the rustication of 19 students, including six in their final year over indulgence in various offences ranging from misconduct, theft, examination malpractice, hostel bed-space racketeering and extortion, beating a fellow student, admission racketeering, extortion, and assault resulted in their rustication.
