The Nigerian Board of Technical Education has granted complete accreditation for all of the courses offered by the vocational and technical training center, Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute, located in Lokoja, Kogi State.
This was revealed on Monday during the public opening of the institution’s car workshop by Mr. Williams Charles Oluwatoyin, the rector of the establishment. Along with the institution’s courses receiving full accreditation, the Rector launched a scholarship program for a selected group of students, funded by Dr. Shaibu Oricha, the Director General of the Kogi State Government House.
The visitation served as a testament to my diligence and dedication in bringing about real change during my rectorship.
“We are thrilled to inform you and the public at large that all of our programs have received full accreditation from the NBTE with effect from January 2024, these programs—which include the National Innovation Diploma (NID) in Computer Software Engineering, NID Welding and Fabrication, NID Electrical and Electronic Engineering, NID Network and System Security, and NVC Automotive Mechatronics—were accredited.
Charles stated that the full status accreditation has prepared them to fulfill their mandate: “We strongly remain unwavering and ever committed to ensuring that we nip in the bud issues of unemployment through our plans to produce highly employable and skilled professionals. While this phase in our sojourn is laid to rest, for now till 2029, we are committed to raising the bar of academic excellence, fostering the actualization of our mission and vision, as well as our keen interest in emerging as a globally reputable and competitive institute of vocational and technical learning.”
“We would like to take this opportunity to once again encourage those in positions of authority and financial clout to emulate men like Dr. Oricha and toe the path of investing in the younger ones for the collective good of the people of Kogi State and the nation by extension. Dr. Shaibu Oricha has decided to sponsor 30 individuals in an annual scholarship scheme spanning the 21 local government areas of the state. Finally, we are officially opening our automobile workshop to members of the general public as service stations for their vehicles.
