According to information released by the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, 187 students will graduate first class throughout the 2020–2021 and 2022–2023 academic years.
This was said by Vice Chancellor Prof. Farouk Adamu Kuta during the press conference for the institution’s combined 31st and 32nd convocation, which is set for February 1, 2024, at Gidan-Kwano, the main campus located along Minna-Bida Road in Niger State.
He clarified that a total of 7,312 graduates with first degrees, 120 with postgraduate diplomas, 955 with master’s degrees, and 150 with doctorate degrees were obtained from the 2020/2021 and 2022/2023 academic sessions, respectively, with 3,867 and 3,445 graduates.
He disclosed that, in response to the surge in student enrollment, the administration chose to implement a cutting-edge e-learning strategy for its 100-level students in order to address the issues related to insufficient lecture spaces and staffing.
“This method has worked well for overseeing big courses. The COVID-19 pandemic has presented issues that we are better equipped to handle thanks to the development of online platforms for instruction, assessments, and exams, which has greatly enhanced conventional teaching techniques in Nigeria, the speaker stated.
The VC also revealed that the university’s academic programs have all received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission, or NUC, and that the school is getting ready to welcome an international accrediting organization that will elevate FUT Minna in the eyes of the academic world.
In the field of research, Prof. Kuta revealed that the university received over N844 million from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) National Research Grant and an additional five million euros from the European Commission to carry out an EU-AU partnership project named Resilient, Inclusive, and Safe Food System for Everyone (UP-RISE). This was made possible by the combined efforts of multiple schools and departments.
The VC continued, saying, “The university’s administration has made great strides toward developing its infrastructure and collaborating with other organizations, bodies, and research agencies.” We are also urging the university’s graduates to support the growth of the establishment.
