President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security agencies to intensify their efforts against cybercriminals and organized crime groups in Nigeria.
This was revealed by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, in a statement on Sunday.
The directive follows the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) recent handover of 53 vehicles and $180,300 to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) on behalf of two Canadian citizens defrauded by Nigerian cybercriminals.
President Tinubu praised the EFCC’s efforts and called on agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Customs Service, and Nigerian Ports Authority, to crack down on individuals trafficking stolen vehicles.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to combating crime, emphasizing that Nigeria must not become a hub for stolen vehicles or illicit foreign wealth.
