Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, described the state’s landmass as a goldmine for investors on Friday, comparing the state to neighboring states, particularly Lagos State.
He revealed this information at the launch of Entrepreneur Radio, SEAP FM 89.1, Okeho, a new radio station in the state’s Kajola Local Government Area.
Makinde, represented by the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, stated that Oyo State has an advantage over Lagos State due to its dry port and landmass of 28,454 square kilometers, which is approximately eight times larger than Lagos. Lagos State, on the other hand, only has a seaport and the entire state covers 3,577 square kilometers of land.
Investors who keep opening companies and engaging in other endeavors in the state, according to Oyelade, are aware of this potential.
The commissioner stated that the state was proud of its thriving economy, which was demonstrated by the growth of the real estate and hospitality industries as well as the rise in radio stations.
He stated that the state, for its part, kept on providing the favorable conditions by building 200 kilometers of roads and other infrastructure strategically.
Speaking, Dr. Oladokun Olatunde, the radio station’s chairman, stated that the state as a whole will be notified, in addition to the residents of his hometown of Okeho and its surroundings.
The Onjo of Okeho, Oba Rafiu Osuolale Mustapha, the member representing the federal constituency of Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola, the traditional rulers of the Oke-Ogun zone, veteran broadcaster Yemi Sonde, and Mrs. Dotun Olaitan, the chairperson of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, were among those in attendance.
