The licences of three private jet operators has been suspended by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority(NCAA) for violating its regulations.
Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development had earlier warned private jet operators without licensed to operate commercial services on Monday that their operations were costing the federal government a huge loss of revenue.
He further stated that the amount of money paid to the federal government is substantial when it is commercial. People now obtain licences at a very low cost from NCAA and as soon as they get the go-ahead, they operate six or eight flights a day, transporting passengers through out Nigeria.
In an attempt to move quickly on the warning, the acting NCAA DG had to punish three aircraft operators on Tuesday for participating in commercial flights in a Riot Act despite several warnings.
In an effort to further sanitize the general aviation industry, It is mandated that, by no later than April 19, 2024, all PNCF holders will be required to submit relevant documents to the authority within the next 72 hours to ensure conformity with regulatory standard.
NCAA has notify travelers to hire airline charter operator that have the current Air Operators Certificate that the NCAA has issued and also urges the aviation sector should report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities. This is for the safety of passengers and for economic sabotage not to occur.
