The Lagos State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) for the construction of the Lekki-Epe Link Bridge, aimed at improving infrastructure and transportation in the Lekki-Epe axis of the state.
This was revealed in a statement from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on his social media platforms.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the construction of the bridge aligns with the state’s broader vision to enhance road networks, reduce traffic congestion, and support economic growth as part of Lagos’ strategic transport master plan.
He also noted that discussions have taken place about awarding the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract to CCECC, with feasibility and design studies already completed.
Additionally, the government signed another MoU to implement solar power systems across Lagos’ tertiary institutions, including Lagos State University, Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Lagos State University of Education, and Lagos State College of Medicine.
The solar systems, expected to generate about 50 MW, aim to provide cleaner, more affordable electricity, showcasing the state’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
The signing was witnessed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, highlighting the importance of these initiatives for Lagos’ future development.
