The Federal Government through the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has released guidelines to help Nigerians report loan apps that harass their customers.
Online loan apps are popular for quick financial assistance, but some lenders resort to harassment tactics when borrowers fail to repay on time.
This can include sending embarrassing messages, often with photos, to the borrower’s contacts.
To report such harassment, the FCCPC has provided the following steps:
- Email: Send your complaint to the FCCPC’s email address.
- Social Media: Direct message the FCCPC on social media.
- Website: Visit the FCCPC website and file a complaint. Provide details such as your name, contact information, the name of the loan app, and a brief description of your complaint.
The FCCPC is committed to protecting consumers and ensuring fair business practices.
They encourage consumers to report any unfair practices to help maintain a fair and transparent marketplace.
