The Nigeria Customs Service has revealed that the agency is partnering with other Federal Government parastatals in the fight against hunger in the country.
This was disclosed by the Comptroller General of the NCS, Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi in Kano on Friday
He explained that the agency was working round-the-clock to ensure adequate management of the nation’s borders to safeguard industries as well as protect the agricultural sector.
According to him, “We are not working in isolation, we are collaborating with other Federal Government ministries and parastatals to ensure adequate food security in the country.
Speaking further, he revealed that the service was also working closely with the border communities to ensure that they get intelligence information which will be useful in their bid to put an end to smuggling of food and other contrabands.
The CG said the service will construct schools and health facilities to achieve the desired objectives as part of the effort to enhance effective community relations between the Nigeria Custom and border communities.
“Six big projects would be sited at the border areas through special intervention provision,” he said.
