The leaders of the security services and the economic team are currently meeting with the Senate to discuss the nation’s recent security issues.At 11:35 a.m., the Senate suspended its norms to let non-lawmakers attend the plenary.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoheed Lagbaj; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Hassan Abubakar; Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; Director General of Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa were all called to a meeting by Senate President Godswill Akpabio two weeks ago last Tuesday.
However, due to the absence of the chief of defense staff and the NSA, the meeting was called off.The meeting was then rescheduled for Tuesday, which is today.
Abubakar Badaru, the minister of defense; Bello Matawale, the minister of state for defense; Senator Ibrahim Geidam, the minister of state for police affairs; Imaan Ibrahim, the minister of interior; Hon. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo; Olawale Edun, the minister of finance; and Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the director general of the National Intelligence Agency, were all invited.
With the presence of every Invited stakeholder, they resolved into a closed-door session to receive security briefings after a motion was moved by Senate leader, Opeyemi Bamidele.
