On Thursday, the Ondo State House of Assembly approved and verified Olayide Adelami’s nomination to be the state’s deputy governor.
Under the direction of Speaker Olamide Oladiji, Adelami, a former Deputy Clerk at the National Assembly, was confirmed during a plenary session of the Assembly. Shortly after Adelami’s screening by the Speaker-chaired House Selection Committee, his nomination was officially confirmed.
The Assembly received the nominee’s name on Wednesday from Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. The nominee is from Owo, which is home to the Owo local government headquarters and the late former governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s birthplace.
Aiyedatiwa’s letter to the House asking for the nomination for the deputy governorship to be taken into consideration had already been read by the Clerk of the Assembly, Jaiyeola Benjamin.
In addition to having the necessary educational background and being physically, psychologically, and emotionally stable and capable of carrying out the job, Akinruntan claims that the nominee understands the role well.
The motion to consider the report and confirm the nominees was made by Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, the majority leader of the assembly. Felix Afe, who represents Akoko North West Constituency 2, seconded the motion.
Adelami, for his part, expressed gratitude to Aiyedatiwa for his nomination and pledged to uphold the sentiment and trust he placed in him.
