Around twenty-six people were abducted by bandits on the Gusau-Sokoto route on Tuesday afternoon.
The gunmen who allegedly barricaded the road leading to Kwaren Kirya village in Zamfara State’s Maru Local Government Area kidnapped every occupant from a Volkswagen golf and a Toyota 18-seater bus.
Because the bandits are now blocking the route every day, locals claimed that the situation is becoming serious.
“As I’m talking to you now, about 30 minutes ago, these bandits have blocked another side of the road. They cleared the passengers of an 18 seater bus and a golf, the situation is worrisome because it has become an everyday thing for these people to be blocking the road,” one of the residents disclosed.
The source pleaded with the authorities to set up security stations nearby in order to impede the crooks’ actions.
The source said, “There is a village called Balge when you pass that Kwaren Kirya; about 80% of settlers in that village are bandits.”
“They were once driven from the area, but the most of the occupants were bandits. All we need is for the government to assist us and erect military installations nearby.
