Large consignments of Ghanaian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis sativa, trafficked into Lagos from Ghana and placed into two trucks and a J5 bus with a total weight of 14, 524.8 kilograms, have been confiscated by agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, or NDLEA.
Early on Sunday, January 28, 2024, three vehicles carrying large bags of the psychoactive material were tracked down and stopped in the Ojuelegba neighborhood of Lagos. While the vehicles were being blocked, two of the drivers sprang out, and the third driver, Nasiru Ojomu, 66, who is associated with the drug mogul Suleiman Jimoh (alias Olowo Idi Ogede, also known as Temo), who is wanted in Akala, Mushin, was taken into custody.
In the past three years, NDLEA agents have reportedly intercepted multiple shipments of the same psychoactive chemical related to Temo, valued at billions of naira. Since then, the wanted drug boss has fled into hiding while the Agency is still actively looking for him.
Similarly, on Thursday, February 1st, NDLEA agents conducting a routine patrol near a warehouse that the Agency had sealed off on Church Street, Idumota, Lagos due to an ongoing investigation, detained three suspects: Joseph Joshua, Muhammad Adamu, and Balarabe Musa. The suspects had broken into the store and loaded 546,700 pills of tramadol and other opioids into a waiting yellow bus that was designated BDG 447 XD and an unregistered Suzuki minibus.
