‘Release Farotimi Now’ – Obidients warn Police

The OBIdient Movement has issued a stern warning to the Nigerian Police Force, demanding the immediate release of human rights lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi.

In a statement signed by Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the OBIdient Movement, the group condemned the arrest as an abuse of power and a violation of Farotimi’s fundamental human rights as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.

The statement emphasized the need for the Nigerian authorities to ensure Farotimi’s immediate and unconditional release, guaranteeing the protection of his rights throughout the process. The OBIdient Movement also threatened to organize massive protests across the country if Farotimi is not released promptly.

Farotimi’s arrest has sparked widespread outrage, with many Nigerians condemning the move as an attempt to silence dissenting voices. The Nigerian Police Force has been accused of misusing its powers to suppress critics of the government.

The OBIdient Movement called on the international community to stand in solidarity with Farotimi and all those fighting for justice and human rights in Nigeria.

They stressed that the protection of human rights and the promotion of free speech are essential to a healthy democracy.
