Despite criticisms and comments from U.S citizens and constituents and world power China, the U.S House of Representatives today, Wednesday passed a bill that would force the divestiture of the ByteDance firm away from it’s Chinese owner or face being banned completely from the U.S.
With 352 vote in favor of the bill and some 65 rep. members against it, the bill got majority votes to pass.
Democrat Mark Warner and Republican Marco Rubio issued a joint statement immediately after the passage, saying they were encouraged by the bipartisan support for the bill and that they “look forward to working together to get this bill passed through the Senate and signed into law.”
The vote comes after a week of it’s proposal.
According to source, TikTok CEO, Shou Zi Chew, would visit the Capitol Hill as scheduled for today, Wednesday.
