To manufacture autonomous drones for the world’s major industries—such as defense, energy, logistics, agriculture, and mining—a 15,000-square-foot drone factory has opened in Abuja.
It is owned by TerraHaptix, a Venture Capital-backed robotics business that develops, produces, and markets self-driving drones.
As per the announcement made upon the factory’s acquisition, TerraHaptix can become the continent’s largest drone producer with its yearly production capacity of 10,000 drones. To support production, it has a machine shop, a manufacturing line, a research and development lab, and a 3D printing facility.
“This factory acquisition shows TerraHaptix’s intent as a serious strategic robotics company in Africa, and we can’t wait to commence the production of UAVs that will drive the technological revolution for core industries globally”- said Nnamdi Chife, CEO of TerraHaptix.
Within the next four months, the business intends to introduce two product lines: one is a long-range commercial reconnaissance drone. The other is an attack drone for militaries all around the world that is powered by jets.
It is situated in Abuja’s well-known Idu Industrial District. The firm intends to house all phases of the design, development, prototype, manufacturing, and production lifecycles in one location, enabling it to rapidly iterate and advance its technological capabilities.
TerraHaptix was founded in 2023 by Maxwell Maduka, 22, and Nathan Nwachuku, 20, with the goal of producing 100,000 drones a year by 2030.
