Vini Jr should’ve won Ballon d’Or – Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his disappointment over Vinícius Jr.’s omission from winning the Ballon d’Or, calling the decision “unfair” and praising the integrity of the Globe Soccer Awards.

Speaking at the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards, where Vinícius was named Best Men’s Player, Ronaldo stated, “Vinícius Jr. should have won the Ballon d’Or. In my opinion, it was clear. It was unfair. This is why I love the Globe Soccer Awards; they are honest.”

The event celebrated football’s finest, with Real Madrid’s Vinícius Jr. also receiving the Best Forward award after an outstanding season.

Jude Bellingham, another Real Madrid star, won the Best Midfielder award as well as the Maradona Award, highlighting his growing prominence in the sport. Neymar Jr. was honored with the Player Career Award for his exceptional contributions to football, while Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal was recognized as Best Emerging Talent, underscoring his bright future.

Cristiano Ronaldo himself was celebrated as the Top Goalscorer of All Time, further cementing his legendary status.

Despite Rodri’s impressive achievements, including being named Player of the Tournament at Euro 2024, his Ballon d’Or win surprised many, as Vinícius was widely considered the pre-ceremony favorite following Real Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League double.
