United bounce back at Saints

Alejandro Garnacho wheels away after netting the third goal of the afternoon in Manchester United's win over Southampton.

Manchester United secured a much-needed victory, easing pressure on manager Erik ten Hag, as Southampton continued their Premier League struggles with a fourth consecutive defeat.

United, coming off losses to Brighton and Liverpool, faced an early scare when Diogo Dalot fouled Southampton’s 18-year-old winger Tyler Dibling in the penalty box.

However, Andre Onana saved Cameron Archer’s penalty, and United capitalized shortly after. Matthijs de Ligt headed in Bruno Fernandes’ superb cross, marking his first goal for the club since joining from Bayern Munich.

Marcus Rashford doubled the lead with a brilliant strike, ending his goal drought with a well-placed shot past Aaron Ramsdale.

Southampton struggled to respond, failing to muster another shot on target after Archer’s miss. Their situation worsened when captain Jack Stephens received a red card for a reckless challenge on Alejandro Garnacho.

Garnacho sealed the 3-0 win with a stoppage-time goal, helping United claim a vital three points and providing a morale boost for Ten Hag’s side.
