Vice President Kashim Shettima has been given instructions by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to lead a presidential team to the Sunday African Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Côte d’Ivoire.
Remember that during the thrilling match between the Super Eagles and South Africa in the semifinals, the Vice President had also represented the President.
On Sunday, February 11, the Nigerian national team and the host team, Côte d’Ivoire, will square off in an exciting rematch at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.
According to a statement by the spokesman of the vice president, Stanley Nkwocha, “Recognizing the unifying power of football and the immense role the Super Eagles play in fostering national pride and unity, the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, believes that Vice President Shettima’s presence at the finals alongside the delegation is a testament to the government’s unwavering support for the team and its dedication to their success.”
Earlier, the President of CAF had said Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be live at the stadium to watch the Super Eagles vie for honors against the Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire.
