Malang Sarr has found a new permanent club, leaving Chelsea to join Lens on a two-year contract.
During the early days of Mauricio Pochettino’s reign, it became clear that the 25-year-old had no future at Stamford Bridge, with Pochettino needing a reminder at a press conference that Sarr was still at the club.
Sarr spent the entire 2023-24 campaign without making an appearance, following a loan spell at Monaco the previous season. With a year left on his Chelsea contract, his departure before the end of August was inevitable as Chelsea sought to reduce their outgoings.
While Chelsea has not made an official announcement regarding a contract termination or transfer, Lens announced on Friday morning that they had signed Sarr on a permanent deal, presumably without a transfer fee.
