Mohamed Salah has set a new Premier League record as the most prolific opening day goalscorer.
His goal in Liverpool’s 2024/25 opener against Ipswich marks his ninth strike in a season opener, surpassing the previous record shared with Alan Shearer, Frank Lampard, and Wayne Rooney, who each had eight goals.
Salah’s goal came after a neat one-two with Dominik Szoboszlai, following Diogo Jota’s opener.
This goal also ties Salah with Rooney for the most goal involvements on opening days, with 13 (including five assists).
Salah’s consistent performances on the first match of the season continue to solidify his legacy as the “Egyptian King.”
