The League Management Committee (LMC) of the Nigeria Premier Football League ((NPFL) has sanctioned Rangers International of Enugu and Enyimba of Aba for breaching its framework and rules in their Matchday 35 encounter.
Rangers have been awarded 3 points and 3 goals while Enyimba was fined a total of ₦10m.
Three players of Enyimba -Akanni Elijah, Eze Ekwutoziam, Chibuke Nwaiwu- are on the list waiting to be sanctioned after the conclusion of the LMC’s investigation.
Rangers International will also part with ₦2m for what was termed “over ticketing”, ₦1m for failing to provide adequate security, ₦1m for failing to implement crowd control measures and ₦1m for allowing unauthorized bodies to assess restricted areas.
The club was also ordered to implement more crowd control mechanism in subsequent games.
Both clubs have 48 hours to appeal the decision.
The decision of the LMC of the NPFL means Rangers International remain on top of the league table with 64 points from 35 matches while Enyimba FC and Remo Stars are in second and third positions with 59 points each.
Shooting Stars of Ibadan are fourth on the log with 56 points after same number of matches.
Recall, the match between Rangers International of Enugu and Enyimba of Aba was abandoned after a late penalty call led to fans storming the field of play.
