The Africa Cup of Nations preliminary draw for 2025 will take place today in Cairo, Egypt, at the headquarters of the Confederations of African Football.
This was announced by CAF on Monday through a statement posted on its official website by its communication department.
The draw for the Morocco 2025 preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON is scheduled on Tuesday, the governing body announced after the 34th edition of the competition concluded.
It said that at 14:00 local time (12:00 GMT), the draw would take place.
The statement read, “The preliminary round will include the eight lowest-ranked teams according to the FIFA ranking: “Somalia, Djibouti, Sao Tome, Chad, Mauritius, South Sudan, Liberia and Eswatini.“
The matches will be played on home and away basis during the FIFA Window of March 18 to March 26.
For the group stage, the 44 exempted teams and the four winners of the preliminary round will be paired.
The Elephants, the host squad, emerged victorious in the just ended 2023 AFCON, which took place in Côte d’Ivoire.
In the competition final, they triumphed 2-1 over the Nigerian Super Eagles.
