Players and officials of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club, El-Kanemi Warriors, were attacked by armed robbers along the Jos-Bauchi road on Saturday morning.
The team was returning to Maiduguri from Lagos after a 2-0 loss to Ikorodu City in a matchday 14 fixture on Wednesday.
The attackers left several players and officials injured and made away with valuables, including phones and cash. The injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital in Bauchi.
El-Kanemi Warriors are scheduled to host Bayelsa United in Maiduguri on Sunday, but the encounter is expected to be postponed by the NPFL.
