Man Utd to put Liverpool Title credentials to test in crunch clash

Premier League leaders Liverpool head to Old Trafford to renew hostilities with Manchester United looking to drag themselves closer to equalling their bitter rivals’ record of 20 English titles.

In a league that has been full of drama, Arsenal and Manchester City will hope for a Liverpool defeat, while the top four battle and relegation survival fight are also heating up.

With memories of their painful FA Cup quarterfinal defeat at Manchester United still fresh for Alex Mac Allister and his Liverpool teammates, it would have been no surprise if the Argentine midfielder had branded their return to Old Trafford as a revenge mission.

“I don’t know if it’s revenge but for sure it will be an important game for us because if we want to win something we have to win every game and that’s the aim,” said Mac Allister, whose team are two points clear of second-placed Arsenal with eight games left.

Manchester United have injury issues to contend with as they head towards Sunday’s crucial Premier League meeting with Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez ruled out for at least a month, Raphael Varane going off at half-time for the second game in a row, and Jonny Evans in doubt.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have received a timely boost about the potential return of the clinical Diogo Jota and Japanese International, Wataru Endo.

The Merseysiders title rivals, Arsenal head to Brighton aiming to keep the pressure on Liverpool, while third-placed City – three points behind the leaders – travel to Crystal Palace.
